The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) is the professional body dedicated to representing the UK’s recruitment industry and are committed to raising standards and highlighting excellence throughout the recruitment industry and all REC Members must abide by the REC Code of Professional Practice.
With increasing regulation in dentistry (e.g. CQC) we strongly recommend you only work with recruitment agencies that are members of REC. -

Ask for confirmation of rates before accepting a candidate.· Do read terms of business.
· Check invoice terms, they may be 14 days but you should negotiate 30 days.
· Check terms for a temp who wants to go perm, the fee payment terms may be as high as 20% of the annual salary.
· Ask what the latest you can cancel a candidate before incurring charges.
· What notice period needs to be given if you wish to cancel a temp.
· Make sure you have a clear line of communication with a single contact.
· After discussing your requirements with an agency, re confirm this in an email just encase you need to refer to this later down the line.
· Work with more than one agency, this gives you more choice of candidates and breeds competitiveness amongst agencies wishing to get a slice of your business.
· Ask if there is any additional oncosts for example admin fees, this is becoming more common as a way of agencies increasing margins without it being mentioned up front.
